Abstract

Background: Child sexual abuse is a global issue that affects millions of children every year. In Pakistan, child sexual abuse is a widespread problem, and it is essential to prevent and address it. Parental engagement in child sexual abuse prevention education is crucial in Pakistan, as parents play a critical role in protecting their children from sexual abuse.

Objective: This research paper aims to explore the current state of parental engagement in child sexual abuse prevention education in Pakistan, identify the challenges faced by parents in engaging in such education and suggest ways to enhance parental engagement in child sexual abuse prevention education.

Methodology: This study used a phenomenological technique, which is appropriate for examining parents' experiences with education about preventing child sexual abuse. In-depth interviews were used in the study's qualitative methodology to collect data. Purposive sampling was used to identify participants, and Pakistani parents with school-age children were the primary audience. Based on socioeconomic status, geographic region, and educational background, a wide range of participants were chosen.

Results: Our results suggest that the key themes that may emerge from studying parental engagement in child sexual abuse prevention education in Pakistan include Awareness and Understanding, Parents' communication with their children, cultural and religious and the resources and support parents need to effectively engage in child sexual abuse prevention education.

Conclusion: In Pakistan, parental involvement in programs that prevent child sexual abuse is crucial for shielding kids from sex abuse. Researchers can better understand the challenges and opportunities for involving parents in prevention efforts by examining themes like awareness and understanding, perceived responsibility, communication, cultural and religious beliefs, school-based education, support and resources, and awareness and understanding. This data can be used by educators and policymakers to create successful preventative initiatives that involve parents and safeguard kids from sexual abuse.
